Church to Church Partnerships
Our partnerships between churches in the U.S. with churches in East Africa provide opportunities for these communities to build new relationships and engage in spiritual cultural exchange. We are constantly looking for new churches to join partnerships.
A Church to Church Partnership
On Sunday, July 8, 2012, two churches 8,000 miles apart – one in Kibungo, Rwanda and five representatives of Fulton Missouri’s First Presbyterian Church attended the morning service at the Kibungo Presbyterian -- Allie Barden, Sam Mayne, Bob Hansen, Hannah Minchow-Proffitt, and John Barden. They greeted the Kibungo congregation on behalf of their home church and shared a few gifts with their new partners. The three hour service included remarks the congregations two pastors -- Pastor Muke Nagaju and Pastor Daniel Dushimimana. Pastor Muke initially worked with Bob Hansen to conceptualize the partnership but when she left to attend seminary in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, she handed the leadership over to Pastor Daniel. The service included songs from the children’s choir and the young people’s choir, testimonies from our team, and an exchange of gifts. Following the service and after a long meet & greet session outside the church, Pastor Daniel hosted our team to a wonderful dinner at his recently completed parsonage.nd one in Fulton, Missouri, USA – completed the launching of their church partnership.
Earlier, on April 29, 2012, the First Presbyterian Church of Fulton celebrated their side of the partnership during the morning services, including the commissioning of the five representatives, prayers for the success of the partnership, and special recognition to Allie Barden who will stay in Rwanda for a number of months to strengthen the partnership and to volunteer with youth. The church and HFC want to help Allie cover her expenses while in Rwanda, so contributions are being accepted by sending them to Dr. Bob Hansen at 501 Westminster Avenue, Fulton, Missouri 65251. The First Presbyterian Church of Fulton has been a steady supporter of the Rwanda Community Partnership by raising funds and sponsoring the Youth in Rwanda program led by Kat Barden.
